The Luminos Rotation Center Probe (RCP) is a precision setup and referencing tool designed to simplify photonic integrated circuit (PIC) and other alignment workflows. The RCP provides a physical reference point that accurately represents the concurrent center of rotation of the Roll, Pitch, and Yaw axes found in all Luminos 6-Axis Positioners. By making this otherwise invisible point visible and accessible, the RCP allows engineers to quickly establish the rotational reference of an alignment system before installing fibers, fiber arrays, or optical components.
 

During PIC packaging, device characterization, and fiber alignment applications, the RCP can be positioned directly adjacent to a target waveguide or optical feature on a device under test. Once the reference location has been established, the probe is removed and replaced with the appropriate Luminos fiber holder, allowing optical alignment to begin with significantly reduced setup time and improved positioning accuracy. The result is faster alignment workflows, greater repeatability, and improved confidence when working with complex photonic devices and multi-axis positioning systems.
